Position Description

This role is quality-focused and fast paced. As a valued member of our team as an A-, B- or C-level technician, you will efficiently and accurately diagnose vehicle issues, perform repairs of most components, perform routine maintenance services and uphold the high standards of excellence that our customers have come to expect.

Salary: $26.00 - $40.00 per hour, Depending On Skill Level

Duties & Responsibilities (Including but not Limited To)

The primary responsibilities of this position are to:

  • perform routine maintenance services using manufacturer procedures
  • efficiently diagnose and repair vehicles to manufacturer specifications
  • perform DVIs of vehicles and recommend services needed to correct known vehicle issues
  • adequately document technical diagnoses, needed repairs and work performed on customer work orders and/or inspection checklists, attaching pictures when appropriate and recording time spent
  • road test vehicles as needed to ensure quality of repairs
  • participate in training sessions and additional certification activities to stay abreast of rapidly changing automotive design and technology
  • assist fellow technicians and the rest of the team as needed
  • communicate effectively with the service advisor to explain diagnoses and required repairs in a non-technical manner
  • assist in building estimates and labor times
  • maintain all certifications
  • maintain a clean and organized shop
  • adhere to all company policies, procedures and safety protocols


Expected hours: No less than 40 per week, Saturday or Sunday hours preferred

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be a motivated, energetic and customer-focused team player with:

  • a valid driver’s license
  • a clean driving record (no DUIs/DWIs/reckless driving charges)
  • authorization to work in the United States
  • an interest in continuous learning and improvement
  • at least one year of general automotive maintenance and repair experience working independently in a busy shop setting
  • experience operating lifts, diagnostic scanning devices, tablets, shop software, computer diagnostic software, tire changers, wheel balancers, and alignment machines
  • a valid A-series (A1-A8) ASE certification within 6 months of hire or within 2 years of total automotive technician work experience
  • the ability to work quickly and efficiently to solve technical problems (usually without oversight)
  • the ability to work as part of a team to solve complex technical problems when appropriate
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • the ability to successfully complete and pass a background check
  • excellent attention to detail
  • integrity and good work ethic
  • ability to reliably commute to Columbia, MD 21045 before starting work


Additional consideration will be given to candidates with any of the following:

  • successful completion of a formal technical training program
  • current ASE certifications
  • Section 609 EPA certification
  • Maryland State Registered Inspection Mechanic
  • Master Certified Emissions Technician
  • bilingual communication skills
  • experience with automotive diagnostic and repair software

Physical Demands

This job regularly entails:

  • lifting up to 50 pounds without assistance
  • standing, squatting, stooping and kneeling for long periods of time
  • frequent twisting and bending
  • frequent reaching overhead and below the knees
  • frequent data entry and data lookup on a computer or electronic hand-held device
  • frequent reading of small print
  • frequent operation of a motor vehicle
  • frequent talking and hearing
